The Role of the Affiliate

As an experienced affiliate marketer, I'm able to go into just about any market and make money. It's not because I'm particularly brilliant, it's because I understand the true role of the affiliate. It's very simple, but it's amazing how many newbies get this completely wrong.

You see, when an affiliate plays his role (That's you) and the merchant plays his role (That's the Musclehead), the result is a crazy jump in conversion. But when the affiliate messes up (And it happens all the time) conversion drops.

This is because the affiliate and the merchant have distinctly different roles to play. It is the merchant's job to sell, but it is the affiliates job to PRESELL.

What is a presell? Think of it as just recommending something. When you see a great movie and tell your friends about it, you don't talk about it like the ads on TV do, do you? You just give it an honest review and tell your friends what you liked about it.

And this is what you need to do when promoting the Musclehead. Don't come across like you have something to gain out of talking about it. Just write about the benefits of the program. Perhaps you could tell a story about your experience with the product. Maybe you could talk about how much better your life is now you have applied the principles in the ebook.

Put yourself in the shoes of a potential customer. They visit the sales page, think the whole thing sounds good, but there's a couple of things that worry them. Is it a scam? Will it really work? Before people hand over their money, they really need to be sure that they're not going to get scammed or ripped off.

But imagine that you heard from a friend that the product was really good. All those worries and doubts would go out the window and the chance of buying increases. That's what you need to be doing as an affiliate.

The difference between those affiliates who make a killing online and those who make absolutely nothing is the ability to presell.
