Promotional Tactic #6: Squidoo

Although relatively new, Squidoo has become a very popular way to make money for free as an affiliate. It's brilliant, because unlike myspace, you're actually encouraged to tell your friends about things, which is why it is perfect for affiliates like you, who want to promote The Musclehead.

The first step is to do some keyword research. There are a number of good tools out there, but the best free one is:

What you need to do here is start by searching for "build muscle". This is a very broad term and it is unlikely that you could rank for it without a lot of work. So what you need to do is find terms that still receive a decent amount of search volume, but aren't too competitive.

One you've chosen your keyword, it's time to construct your lens. To optimise your lens, you will want your keyword in the title of the lens, the url of the lens and sprinkled throughout the body. Don't go overboard, just put it in naturally.

What to write about in your lens is going to depend on your keyword. Put yourself in the searchers shoes. What are they looking for when they type that keyword in? Are they looking for a review of the Musclehead? Are they looking to build big biceps? Whatever they're looking for, give it to them.

But if you want to make sales of The Musclehead, then you're gonna need to add your affiliate link too. Don't try to sell people, remember the role of the affiliate and just recommend it to them.
